An independent shortlist of design studios producing sustainability and ESG reports — TCFD, GRI, SASB, ISSB-aligned. The audience for these reports has shifted from CSR specialists to mainstream investors, and the design bar has shifted with it. Vetted, no paid placements.
Why ESG reports need their own studios
- Framework fluency. A studio designing a TCFD-aligned report needs to understand what TCFD requires — the four-pillar structure, the scenario-analysis section, the metrics tables. The same applies for GRI, SASB, ISSB. Studios who treat ESG as “the green annual report” miss this.
- Data exhibit volume. A typical sustainability report has 40–80 data exhibits — emissions breakdowns, supply chain maps, scope 1/2/3 reconciliations. Studios with the discipline to design these consistently produce reports that read as one document; the others produce 80 different exhibits stitched together.
- Investor scrutiny. Asset managers now read sustainability reports the way they read 10-Ks. Misleading visualisations get flagged in analyst notes and ESG ratings. Studios who design defensibly are different from studios who design for marketing impact.

Frequently asked
Standalone or integrated with the annual report?
Increasingly integrated under ISSB / ESRS. Different studios specialise in different formats — see annual report shortlist for integrated work; this list focuses on standalone sustainability reports.
What about CDP / supply chain disclosures?
Some studios on this list have CDP-specific experience — particularly the visualisation of Scope 3 emissions data and supply chain heat maps. Mention CDP in your brief if relevant.
Multi-language?
Common for European multinationals. Plan ~£3–8k per additional language. Studios on this list design for translation expansion from the start.
Print + digital?
Almost always both. Some companies are also commissioning microsite versions specifically for investor relations. Mention if you need a microsite scope.
How does timeline work?
Sustainability reports usually have 3–6 month design cycles aligned to internal data collection and external assurance. Briefing 6 months before publication is the norm.
