An independent shortlist of design studios working with crypto, Web3, and DeFi clients — protocol launches, exchanges, custody platforms, on-chain analytics, and the rapidly-shifting visual register this audience expects. Vetted, no paid placements.
Why crypto needs its own shortlist
- Visual register. The dominant aesthetic in crypto/Web3 marketing has shifted twice since 2020 — from “neon meme-friendly” to “serious institutional” to today’s “Stripe-meets-Discord” hybrid. Studios who haven’t kept up produce work that looks dated within a quarter.
- On-chain data fluency. Visualising blockchain data (transaction throughput, fee dynamics, TVL flows, address activity) requires understanding what the numbers mean and how they’re typically misread. Studios without this experience produce charts that crypto-native audiences instantly discount.
- Audience scepticism. Crypto audiences are extremely cynical about marketing. Pieces that look like traditional B2B SaaS marketing get ignored. Pieces that look like meme content get dismissed as unserious. The narrow band that works requires studios with crypto-native instincts.
Common project profiles
- Protocol launch material. Whitepaper visualisations, mechanism explainers, tokenomics diagrams. £15–60k / $20–80k. 6–10 weeks.
- Exchange / platform marketing. Onboarding flows, product explainers, monthly market-update infographics. £10–30k / $13–40k per piece, often retained.
- On-chain research / analytics report. Quarterly state-of-X reports, often produced with research firms. £20–80k / $25–110k.
- Conference / event collateral. Token2049, Devcon, Consensus, etc. £8–25k / $10–35k.

Frequently asked
Do they accept payment in crypto?
Some on this list yes (typically USDC or major-chain stablecoins). Most prefer fiat for accounting simplicity. Specify your preference when you brief us.
What about regulatory considerations?
Crypto marketing is increasingly subject to regulator attention (FCA financial promotions, SEC enforcement actions, MiCA in EU). The studios on this list understand the basics but are not legal advisors — your compliance team should review final assets. Specify your jurisdiction so we prioritise studios familiar with it.
NFT / digital art commissions?
Different brief, different studios. The studios on this list focus on infographic and editorial work for crypto clients, not on NFT artwork commissions. We don’t currently maintain a separate NFT-art shortlist.
How do they handle volatile market moments?
Studios on this list are used to comms work that has to ship within hours of market events (e.g. depegging events, exchange failures). Mention if you need rapid-response capability when you brief us.
What about traditional finance crypto teams?
If you’re a TradFi institution communicating about your crypto exposure (custody offerings, ETF launches, etc.), the brief is hybrid — see also our fintech shortlist. Mention your audience composition (institutional vs retail crypto) when briefing.
